Description

An essential matcha tool

This bamboo spatula, called a chashaku in Japanese, is one of the traditional utensils used in the matcha ceremony. It is designed to dose matcha powder precisely: for one ceremonial bowl, use 2 spatula scoops and 5 cl of water; for a matcha latte, add 10 cl of milk.

Unlike all other teas, matcha is made from tea leaves that have been ground into a very fine powder. This green tea is therefore not infused but whisked. Energising and full-bodied, it is traditionally prepared using a whisk, a bowl and a spatula.
