The essentials for preparing your matcha
This matcha starter set contains all the necessary tools to prepare matcha tea in keeping with Japanese tradition:
- The chawan bowl: its circular shape allows for optimal preparation and a delightful tasting experience.
- The wooden spatula, called chashaku in Japanese, ensures you measure the exact amount of matcha.
- The traditional chasen whisk is used to whisk the tea powder into the water to create a smooth, well-emulsified froth.
Matcha Preparation
- Place 2 scoops (equivalent to one level teaspoon) of Matcha into the bowl.
- Pour 5 cl of water heated to 70°C over the powder.
- Holding the bowl with one hand, whisk the matcha tea with the bamboo whisk using a brisk motion (tracing a "W" shape at the bottom of the bowl) until a creamy froth forms. It is now ready to enjoy!
To make a matcha latte, simply add 10 cl of milk (dairy or plant-based), previously frothed using an electric whisk.
